Hello all. I have just released version 1.05 to the market with a very interesting addition. There is a new loadout called the Timer loadout. Some people might have reasons why they don’t want to tilt the phone to activate different gestures. You might be laying down, or your phone may be in a dock or cradle, making it very difficult to change the way the phone is positioned. The timer loadout fixes this by activating different actions based on the amount of time the sensor is covered. The first action is called instant and it basically does the same thing as a regular swipe across the sensor. If you hold your hand over the sensor, by default, the phone will vibrate every .75 seconds up to four times. If you uncover the sensor after a set amount of clicks, then you will perform the action associated with your preferences.
There is an option to also allow an audio metronome for when you are not holding the phone and can’t feel the vibration. It will click every .75 seconds and you can release when you are in the desired action.
There are also some pretty cool (I think at least) UI changes. I am slowly learning what works and what doesn’t, but I need help. Please let me know if you like the direction the new look is going. I am willing to make changes based on how my user base is feeling it. Just let me know 🙂

The reason why that’s not an option right now is because Prox is a pretty big service. It is designed to play well with the battery but it does have a decent sized footprint. The status bar icon is required to make a service run in the foreground and keeps it from getting killed when you are using your phone for other things. I really don’t want to add this because it will likely get killed very soon after you launch it. I do have an idea for those of you who don’t want to look at the icon. I can add a setting for a transparent icon, but it will still show up when you pull your notifications down. It will also cause all of the other notifications to appear to be pushed over a bit because there is still an icon there, you just won’t be able to see it. What do you think?

yes! i almost forgot that 😉 but hmm kaspersky mobile security does have an option to hide the icons but i don’t see it being killed or it is just me that i haven’t noticing it being killed? anyway this is only a small issue 🙂 the app is excellent!
and i notice prox pro still doesn’t have an option to start on every boot?

Hi there, loving the app so far – a very simple concept that’s incredibly handy… 🙂
One small request though: any way to have Prox go into standby when full screen applications are running? Games are the big issue, I have to remember to turn off prox before I open anything that I’m likely to hold in landscape orientation.
